Every year our organization is given the opportunity to send dancers on the behalf to represent us at THON.
This year one of the three dancers is: Matt Hammel
Matt was asked these 5 questions:
1.)What made you want to dance in THON?
I’ve been going to THON Weekend since 2014 and ever since I walked into the BJC for the first time I wanted to be on that floor. The energy and love throughout this weekend is indescribable.
2.)What are you most excited for THON weekend?
I am most excited to be surrounded by some many people to stand together for one cause. My family is my biggest support group and I know seeing them up in the stands for the first time is going to be emotional but always filled with love
3.)What are you most nervous for THON weekend?
I’m more nervous about missing out on something then anything else. I want to make the most out of this weekend and no matter what pain I’m in I’m going to want to be apart of everything
4.)How are you preparing for THON?
Yoga and sleep. Keeping my body stretched and healthy but also preparing my head for the mental side of THON weekend. Keeping everything in front of me and just getting ready to fill every emotion in the book.
5.)What was your reaction to finding out you were going to be a dancer to represent Behrend at THON?
Immediately started crying. This is something I have been wanting to do for a long time and getting to do it during my senior year and also little over a year since I lost my cousin to cancer is going to be something special. With friends and family around me I get to stand 46 hours for all the THON kids out there but also I get to stand in loving memory of Victoria who I know will be watching over me the entire weekend!
